Lake Nakuru National Park, a renowned bird sanctuary, boasts a rich avian population of over 400 species, with immense flocks of flamingos and a diverse array of water birds. This park is a treasure trove for wildlife enthusiasts, with sightings of water-loving creatures such as hippos and waterbucks. The park’s landscape encompasses a vast, shallow lake encircled by marshes, woodlands, and open grasslands. You’ll also encounter rocky outcrops and Africa’s largest euphorbia forest on the eastern fringes. The lake is sustained by three principal rivers: Njoro, Makalia, and Enderit, along with numerous springs. Scenic roads and outstanding viewpoints, like Baboon Cliff and Lion Hill, offer sweeping vistas of the lake, often graced by up to two million greater and lesser flamingos and tens of thousands of other bird species. The bird population may fluctuate due to changing food conditions.

Lake Nakuru National Park is not only a bird paradise but also a sanctuary for a diverse range of native African animals, including waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, elands, endangered black rhinos, white rhinos, and, occasionally, elusive leopards. Furthermore, the northern part of the lake is home to a sizable hippo community, making for fascinating game viewing experiences. We will enjoy an afternoon game drive in this park

Conclude the day with a satisfying dinner and restful overnight stay in a lodge situated inside the park.

Day 05: Masai Mara Game Reserve

After enjoying breakfast we check out. Depart on a scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley’s sprawling expanse towards the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. This iconic destination is a quintessential experience for both first-time and returning visitors embarking on a Kenyan safari. It holds a prominent place on the must-see list of Kenyan nationals and international travelers alike, owing to its diverse and extraordinary wildlife and avian inhabitants.

Nestled within the southern part of Kenya, Masai Mara National Reserve spans approximately 1,510 square kilometers (about 938 square miles) of untamed savannah grassland. Situated roughly 150 miles southeast of Nairobi, this unfenced sanctuary offers a remarkable natural spectacle.

The reserve draws its name from the indigenous Maasai people of Kenya and the meandering Mara River, which cuts through its heart. Masai Mara provides an unrivaled vantage point for witnessing the world-famous wildebeest migration, when these creatures cross the Mara River between July and August. It’s also home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, including the illustrious “Big Five” – elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo. The population of black rhinos here is alarmingly endangered, with only 37 remaining as of 2000.

Herds of plains zebras graze throughout the park, alongside Maasai giraffes, common giraffes, jackals, white-bearded wildebeests, Oribis, warthogs, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, hartebeests, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, rare Topi antelope, and the graceful roan antelope. Additionally, the Mara River teems with hippos and crocodiles, adding to the wealth of wildlife encounters. The park boasts the highest concentration of African lions, including the striking black-maned lion. Birdlife is just as abundant as the wildlife, with over 400 distinct bird species making their home in the Masai Mara.

The climate here is characterized by a hot and dry environment, punctuated by regular rainfall seasons twice a year. The reserve’s terrain mainly comprises open savannah grasslands, adorned with clusters of acacia trees along the southeastern sector. The Mara and Talek rivers gently traverse the rolling plains of the reserve, and several seasonal rivers appear during the rainy season, only to recede once the rains have passed.

Upon reaching your camp/lodge, take a moment to settle in and refresh and relax before embarking on an exciting afternoon game drive that will continue until the sun sets. Afterward, return to your camp for a satisfying dinner and a peaceful overnight stay amidst the splendors of the Masai Mara

Day 06: Masai Mara Game Reserve

For the intrepid traveler seeking a bird’s-eye perspective of the magnificent Masai Mara park, there’s no better way than embarking on a hot air balloon ride at an extra cost. These experiences offer a thrilling opportunity to soar above the vast expanse of the Masai Mara and witness its wildlife from the skies.

Hot air balloon rides typically extend for around an hour, commencing at the break of dawn. As you gently float high above the park, you’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the animals as they go about their morning activities. The sense of tranquility and awe that accompanies this unique vantage point is truly remarkable.

Upon landing, a special treat awaits: a champagne breakfast prepared right on the balloon’s burner. It’s a delightful way to cap off your exhilarating aerial adventure and make memories that will last a lifetime.

We will enjoy a morning and afternoon game drives in this wonderful game reserve. We will also have the opportunity to go back to an earlier era by immersing in the rich traditions of the Maasai people within the confines of their ancestral village. This authentic experience offers a unique chance to engage with the Maasai in their traditional milieu and gain firsthand insight into their captivating culture.

During your visit, you’ll often have the privilege of witnessing the Maasai morans, the young Maasai warriors, as they showcase their customary dances, which are deeply rooted in their heritage. This captivating display provides a window into their vibrant traditions.

Additionally, this cultural excursion offers you the opportunity to acquire traditional Maasai souvenirs, artworks, and collectibles. These items, crafted with skill and infused with Maasai artistry, make for memorable mementos of your time spent among this remarkable community

Dinner and overnight

Day 07: Lake Naivasha

We will have breakfast as we enjoy our last moments here. Check out and proceed on your journey to the tranquil shores of Lake Naivasha. This stunning lake, known for its occasional tempestuous storms, earned the moniker “NaiPasha,” a name derived from the Maasai tribe, signifying “rough water.”

For bird enthusiasts, Lake Naivasha is nothing short of a paradise. It is a haven for over 400 captivating bird species and thrives with an abundance of aquatic life, making it a treasure trove of natural wonders.

Upon your timely arrival, relish a delectable lunch and seamlessly settle into your chosen accommodation. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may opt to take a leisurely stroll within the lodge’s surroundings or embark on a memorable boat ride on the lake, with the possibility of visiting the enchanting Crescent Island available at an additional cost. As the day comes to a close, savor a delightful dinner before retiring for a peaceful overnight stay at this enchanting lakeside locale. Overnight at preferred lodge
